What happens when a clearing company finds 27 savings books with a total value of almost 280,000 euros in a washing machine?
Dr. Gerold Oberhumer, partner and inheritance law expert at ScherbaumSeebacher Rechtsanwälte, dealt with this originally inheritance law question in court: In the trial, he represented the bank, which had doubts as to whether the savings books were due to the heirs after all and which refused to pay them to the eviction company – a view ultimately shared by the Supreme Court (OGH).
